Heavy & Fast, a hardcore/punk/metal label out of PA, sent me this release of an early ‘90s crossover band.
The label head is a great guy and knows gems when he hears them. Die Theory is no exception! A crossover hardcore/thrash band out of RI. I know the area for it’s noise scene. I was surprised there was such a masterful thrash band, not from the Bay Area in the ‘90s.
The music is a riff filled journey. One of my favorite things about the band is how tight the rhythm section is. The bass has that classic early ‘90s tone. It sounds so good with how the drums are recorded.
The release comes with a great insert of old flyers and an interview. The band is mostly unknown, and this is an impressive vinyl release from a young label.
Listening to the demos and seeing how they ended up with ‘Ice Cream Headache’ is a notable example of how good thrash and crossover was in the ‘90s. The release is available from the label at their website Heavy & Fast. 4/5 ⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️
