Artisit: Limbwrecker Label: Self Released Year: 2019
Limbwrecker is a band out of Denver, Colorado that up until recently I only heard clips of. I was pumped getting sent their only record with a boxset I had purchased. Limbwrecker released this extended play at the tale end of 2019.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I put this on, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear a heavy and ferocious take on a modern metal. They don’t mess around and get straight down to business. Keep in mind the songs are in the short but sweet category. The band blurs the lines of grindcore, metal, and hardcore with a distinct modern sound.
You can tell the band took extra care writing and producing the collection of song on this release. The song names are great too like, “Knuckledragger.” and “Chocked on Choice” This EP is numbered edition of /200 but is also available on Apple Music and Spotify.
It is definitely worth the time to check out what the band has to offer, especially if you are a fan of modern grindcore, thrash, hardcore and metal acts. (You get a bit of everything)
I look forward to see if this band does a full length. I know I want more. The one complaint I have about this release is that it’s too short!
I want more! 3/ 5 Coffins ⚰️ ⚰️ ⚰️

Artisit: Jarhead Fertilizer Label: Closed Casket Activities Year: 2021
I am late to this flipping cool party! I first heard of Jarhead Fertilizer on a podcast featuring their drummer/vocalist David Bland. He was on the podcast to help promote the Jarhead Fertilizer’s new album and speak about being the drummer of gruesome metal act, Full of Hell.
It was a good episode which led me to become a fan of his project Jarhead Fertilizer I thoroughly enjoy this album as a soundtrack for doing mundane task. I also enjoy this album when I am doing rad things too! The atmosphere relayed through the album’s artwork, sound clips, & gnarly riffs is perfect. If you are looking for something nasty and mean, look no further. The songs on this album walk the lines of a few different genres. I just know this is very good, and very heavy. The low end of this album is fantastic and vinyl is a great way to go enjoy the album. This album is bleak. Bleak and fantastic, like a gnarly kill in a horror movie. The sound clips really help paint the picture and set the stage for some of the heaviest songs on the album. The album is the perfect length. The last song being the longest and most devastating. I would love to catch this group in a live setting. The thought that David Bland does all this wild drumming while doing evil guttural vocals would be a rad sight to see!
If you are a death, grind, or PV fan; go listen to this album! You won’t be disappointed! Then tell a friend.
I give this album 4/5 Coffins ⚰️ ⚰️ ⚰️ ⚰️ Exhalants - Atonement Vinyl Review

Exhalants - Atonement Year: September, 2020. Label: Hex Records A 3 piece noise rock group. The last sentence alone doesn’t always draw my attention but when I heard how loud and gnarly this bass tone was on the opening track I was hooked. Exhalants seem to be seasoned musicians that wrote a remarkable album. It’s loud and noisy with bands like Unsane coming to mind. The rhythm section is a dead reckoning tank I would not fvk with. The album flows really well and there’s waves of melody, strong riffs, and experimentations in noise. The experiment part works so well for the band they have set themselves apart from their contemporaries. A bit of creativity on these songs push the energy behind what you’d think a 3 piece is capable of. At the end of the day if you want huge noise rock with no BS look no further than Exhalants. If you are a gear head or 90s noise rock/ sludge fan you need this release immediately. Third press is still available at the time of this post. 4 coffins ⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️ Artist: Fluoride Release: Disentanglement Year: April, 2019 Fluoride released their album in April of 2019. This is a 2nd press that I received this year. Listening to this release it parallels Grindcore, sludge, hardcore punk, power violence, etc.. I consider them to be a Grindcore band with crust and sludge elements. This debut is furious! Nasty riffs with a masto blaster drummer. The vocalist does an excellent job carrying the intensity of the songs throughout the album. The most enjoyable moments on the album have to be the the crusty sludge moments. Something about the mixture of those elements and the band's attitude really go hand in hand. Overall this is an impressive release and I eagerly await what the band has in store for the future. If you are a fan of the furious Grindcore that blends genres look no further. You can get the second press of the vinyl here. Overall I give this 3 coffins ⚰️ ⚰️⚰️ Zorn - Castle Of Death 7" Review

Band: Zorn Label: FDH Records Release: May, 2018. One day after probably too many hours of Raspberry Bulbs on Spotify a track from Zorn came onto my playlist. I was enthralled from the start! Not only was this some raw short song'ed occult punk but for some reason, the music just "gets it." I ordered the 7 inch from FDH records and I couldn't be happier. Contained in this EP are great leads that go into beautiful song parts of what seems to maliciously planned lyrics. I honestly cannot get enough of these sad occult punk songs. My favorite lyric being: "TWENTY-TWO YEARS I'VE LIVED IN THIS CASTLE I'VE NEVER SEEN THAT DOOR BEFORE" At the time of this post their was still more Zorn 7" EPs left. I highly suggest you obtain one. If you want to hear about castle walls and spells... it is a must. 4 Coffins ⚰️ ⚰️⚰️⚰️ 2014's "Stranger" by California's Cretin is a blast of death grind fresh foul air! Honestly if you are into death grind or old school grindcore this is an ideal album for your collection. Relapse Records released this in 2014. I wasn't fortunate enough to grab this variant at the time of the album's release but I was finally received this as a gift in the Winter of 2020. Revisiting this album was like a buzz saw of riffs and solos to the face! What is great about this album it captures the death grind of the 90s. Think Autopsy or early Napalm Death. The variant itself is wonderful. Relapse of course did an excellent job, a nice beautiful orange and blue merge that compliments the album art perfectly. I could listen to this album all- day, everyday. It is so much fun in terms of lyrical content, drumming, vocals, leads, blazing leads! So much fun! I am not to sure what the band is up to but according to their Bandcamp they are just taking it easy. I give this album an easy: 4 Cuts!!! ✄ ✄ ✄✄ Have A Nice Life's third album "Sea Of Worry" is about exactly what you'd think an album with such a title would be about. It is about anxiety. Some things that came to my mind listening to this album was living as an adult realizing you have only yourself to rely on. There's no prize at the end of the game. I have been a fan of Have A Nice Life over the years. I would say since about 2008 a song from "Deathconsciousness" seeped into my iTunes library. Do I understand some of the obsessiveness from fans of the band? No... I don't. I am still a fan of most of their body of music? Yes! Of course! "Deathconsciousness" remains to be one of my favorite albums on a rainy day. With this Have A Nice Life release it stands out to be more soaked and saturated in post-punk. That's not a complaint. The first half of the album is pretty cohesive to listen to in terms of catchy melancholy goth songs. They save the ambiance and soundscapes more for the latter half of the album or Side B. I would say Side B is something you'd predict from the duo. I overall really enjoyed this album and it's one of the few Have A Nice Life releases I don't have to prepare for an existential crisis to listen to. In term's of release and packing The Flenser does an amazing job. I ended up with the Splatter Coke bottle variant. I will probably never stop following this band. Overall a nice collection of songs in their body of work. 3 cuts! ✄ ✄ ✄ Oh fuvk you guys. Where do I even start..? This is a Sludge/Rock/Noise band from Oklahoma City. They release two EPs in 2019. The first one "This Dungeon Earth" the second came out several months after called "Remove Your Skin Please" it lead to a compilation release that you see seated in the Now Playing sign. This is a 2nd press on Reptilian Records. I listened to "Remove Your Skin Please" first when I discovered the band and got myself immersed with the mechanical warm drum intro to "Dallas Beltway" The manic screams and mumblings of vocalist RAYGUN BUSCH is so captivating and brings another level of emotion to the music. When I finally got this vinyl and listened to the compilation of the two eps I finally saw this collection of songs as a whole. From the start of "This Dungeon Earth" to probably one of the best lines in aggressive music I have heard from the track "Rainbow Meat" dealing with Arbys. I can't describe how heavy this collection of music is. It is a different kind of heavy. The rhythm section does an amazing job keeping a jack hammer on a anvil groove of precision. The best way I can put this is that it is bheavy like the way the noise rock band Daughters can get at times. I will say this the band is not for everyone but if you like to venture out of your comfort zone either one of the EPs on this compilation would be worth your time. I simply love it. My understanding they hope to release new music in 2021. Here is where you can get a copy of this vinyl. Also here is a link to the band's Bandcamp. 4 cuts! ✄ ✄ ✄✄ |
